My penultimate University of Washington School of Drama show. Written by Mark Jenkins and directed by Victor Pappas. I was an undergrad in a show focused primarily on graduate and local professional actors.
Meaning: I had very little stage time. It was a four hour production, and at one point I had the fortunate luxury of having about a 90 minute break between scenes and overall maybe two lines in the entire production. Hooray attending a large college!
But! I was lucky enough to work with a number of esteemed local actors, including a graduate student by the name of Joel McHale (who I would soon work with at the local sketch comedy TV show “Almost Live!”).
So I can’t write it off entirely. I still have a soft spot in my heart for this show, but only because it taught me the true show-business lesson of “it’s not what you know but who you know.”
I can bitch all I want, but at least I’m on the cover of the book, which you can buy here.
